Welcome from Head of School

Dear parents,

At Horsted we encourage our pupils to have high expectations of themselves and to try their very best — whatever their academic or creative abilities might be. It is important to us that the children are happy, confident, resilient and enjoy their learning; making the most of all the opportunities we have to offer. We ensure that all learning is purposeful and linked to children's own experiences, so they are engaged and challenged. Our staff are committed to providing the best education and support for our children, and we actively encourage the children to develop the independence to think for themselves and make thoughtful decisions about their actions.

Our new curriculum is creative, inclusive and exciting. It provides children with a broad range of learning experiences which seek to nurture talents and acquire new skills in a hands-on and engaging way. It is our aim for all children to have a deeper understanding of the world around them and to become responsible and caring citizens of the future.

I am extremely proud to have been a member of staff here for 17 years, starting my career as a newly qualified teacher in year 3. I have experienced many changes during this time here but none so challenging as the last 18 months. After so much effort concentrating on the absolutely necessary changes brought about by the pandemic, it seems fitting to have a new website at a time when schools are looking forwards to a fresh start — where hopefully some normality will return!

Sarah Steer.
